1. Who We Are

Akora2G Connect is the official digital community platform for Akora2G — the Achimota School Year 2000 alumni association. We are a private, invite-verified community. The platform is operated by the Akora2G executive committee. For data-related queries, contact us at admin@akora2g.com.

2. Data We Collect

We collect the following personal information when you register and use the platform:

  • Identity data: Surname, first name, other names, display name
  • Contact data: Email address, phone number (optional)
  • Profile data: House, class year, date of birth (optional), location (optional), profession, occupation, bio
  • Usage data: Forum posts, event RSVPs, group memberships, platform activity
  • Technical data: IP address (via Supabase Auth), browser session tokens

3. How We Use Your Data

  • To verify your identity as a genuine Akora2G alumnus
  • To display your profile in the member directory to other verified members
  • To enable you to participate in forums, events, and groups
  • To send important platform notifications (approval status, event reminders)
  • To administer the platform and maintain community safety

We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising purposes.

4. Who Can See Your Data

  • Public (unauthenticated visitors): No personal data is visible publicly
  • Verified members: Can see your display name, house, class year, profession, and location in the directory
  • You only: Your phone number, date of birth, and email are visible only to you
  • Platform admins: Can see all profile fields for moderation and support purposes

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely on Supabase infrastructure (PostgreSQL), hosted on AWS. All data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Access is protected by Row Level Security policies that enforce per-user data boundaries at the database layer.

6. Your Rights

Under the Ghana Data Protection Act 2012 and GDPR (for members in the EU/UK), you have the following rights:

  • Right of access: Request a copy of all data we hold about you
  • Right to rectification: Correct inaccurate data via your profile settings
  • Right to erasure: Delete your account and all associated personal data via Settings → Delete Account
  • Right to portability: Request an export of your data in JSON format — contact us at admin@akora2g.com
  • Right to object: Object to processing by contacting us

To exercise any of these rights, email admin@akora2g.com. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Data Retention

  • Active member profiles are retained for as long as your account is active
  • Rejected applications are deleted after 90 days
  • Deleted accounts have all personal data removed immediately upon deletion
  • Forum posts from deleted accounts are anonymised, not deleted, to preserve community history

8. Cookies & Tracking

We use essential session cookies managed by Supabase Auth to keep you logged in. We do not use advertising cookies, analytics trackers, or third-party tracking scripts.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
